Embark on an Unforgettable Journey with Cub Scouts!

Age Range

Welcome to the dynamic world of Cub Scouts, where the adventure continues for boys and girls aged eight to ten years old! Young explorers can join the fun up to three months before their eighth birthday and can transition to Scouts anytime within six months of turning ten and a half. This allows them to move up with their friends or whenever they’re ready, ensuring they get the most out of their Scouting journey.

About Cub Scouts

Cub Scouts are the second section in the Scouting family, easily recognized in their distinctive green uniforms. Each week, Cub Scout Packs (the groups) gather in schools, church halls, community centers, or even their very own Scout headquarters!

Weekly Adventures

Every meeting is filled with excitement and camaraderie! Activities vary, but you can expect to:

  • Create amazing crafts
  • Explore the great outdoors
  • Sing fun songs
  • Play thrilling games
  • Go on awesome trips
  • Discover nature’s wonders
  • Listen to captivating stories
  • Learn essential safety skills

Camps and Adventures

Camping is a highlight for Cub Scouts, often being the first time they experience overnight adventures away from home. Imagine camping at beautiful Scout centers, campsites, museums, or popular attractions, fostering independence and building lifelong memories!

Cub Scouts can earn a variety of awards and badges, beginning with the Membership Award after making their promise. The final prize, the Moving-On Award, is given when they transition to Scouts.

Explore the Badges

  • Activity Badges: Earn these for Adventure, Air Activities, Animal Care, Artist, Astronomer, Chef, Collector, Communicator, Cyclist, Entertainer, Environmental Conservation, and many more. Some badges are earned during meetings, while others might require some fun individual work.
  • Staged Activity Badges: These badges are earned in stages, such as nights away. Collect more badges as you spend more nights camping out!
  • Partnership Awards: Team up with another Scouting Section or an outside organization to earn these unique awards.
  • Challenge Awards: Complete these as a group with challenges like Promise, Creative, Fitness, Friendship, Global, and Outdoor. You can even complete them multiple times by demonstrating new skills and development.

The Ultimate Achievement

The Chief Scout’s Silver Award is the highest honor a Cub Scout can earn. To achieve it, complete six Challenge Awards before moving on to Scouts. And don’t worry, you can finish it in the early days of being a Scout if you need to!
