Who Can Join Scouts?
Scouts is open to boys and girls aged 10½ to 14 years old.
Young people can join from the age of 10 and typically move on to Explorer Scouts between the ages of 14 and 14½. This flexibility allows Scouts to transition with their friends and progress through Scouting at the right time for them.
At the 26th Fife Scout Group, we welcome young people from Dunfermline and the surrounding areas who are ready to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and experience the adventure that Scouting offers.

The Chief Scout’s Gold Award
The Chief Scout’s Gold Award is the highest award available in the Scout section and represents outstanding achievement during a young person’s Scout journey.
To achieve this prestigious award, Scouts must complete a range of Challenge Awards and demonstrate commitment, leadership, teamwork, and adventurous spirit throughout their Scouting experience.
The award recognises the skills, experiences, and personal development gained while participating in Scouting and prepares young people for the next stage of their journey as Explorer Scouts.
Progressing to Explorer Scouts
After Scouts, young people move on to Explorer Scouts, where even greater challenges and opportunities await. Explorer Scouts enjoy more advanced adventures, expeditions, international travel, leadership development, and opportunities to work towards prestigious awards including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
